Celeb Fave: Juliette Jake Crocodile Clutch

I was at Intermix last week browsing the handbag section when I came across this Juliette Jake Crocodile Wrap and Wrap Clutch ($595). The bag is styled in crocodile skin and I was drawn-in by the original shape and bold color. That said the clutch is a bit of a pain in the butt because it’s triple wrapped, so you literally have to unwrap it and unwrap it (and again!), to open it (ie forget about finding anything in a hurry or in a cramped space when you’re out at night). I was very tempted to buy this bag; the price is right and it’s simple without being boring or run-of-the-mill, but in the end I just couldn’t get over how unpractical it is.

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. I agree that it is a great looking bag, but I hesitate to get it due to the impracticality. I guess celebs do not have to concern themselves with such things. Lucky!

  2. She TOTALLY copied the Romanek bag that has been around for years!! NOT ORIGINAL. You should go to Barneys and see the original.

  3. As a proud owner of a B.Romanek Rockstar clutch, I have to feel a bit silly now that I paid such a high price for the bag when this is being sold at a fraction of the cost by another designer. As impractical as it is, I do love using my Romanek and I can’t count the times I’ve gotten compliments on it.

  4. I actually have the Romanek clutch–this IS a copy indeed!! I agree with Sharon–cute but impractical…I had to unwrap the entire croc at dinner parties…unfortunately some guests found it kind of disturbings…

  5. I am quite puzzled as to why Miss Sharon is employed with Bag Snob if she cannot even recognize a bag that is clearly a copy of another. Not only did she not realize that the B. Romanek “Rockstar” clutch was the original of this bag, but she said that this bag was the original. I think that Tina and Kelly need to do the blogging.

  6. totally agree! i miss reading Tina and Kellys’ blog entries. This felt like a total waste of my time reading something in this quality and she clearly has less knowledge than the majority of the Bagsnob readers.. the bagsnobs want the real bagsnobs contents. really felt kind of disrespected for being such a loyal reader for years.

  7. Bag Connoisseur & Anonymous;

    Being a bagsnob is one thing, being bitchy, catty and unclassy is another. Bagsnob Sharon has obviously done something right to get her chance to write for Bagsnob.com. Everyone makes mistakes. Not even the original bagsnobs are perfect. So what if she missed the point on this bag. I’m sure that Tina & Kelly don’t know all the details of every bag out there.

    Give Sharon a break. She will eventually get it!!!

    Happy Holidays Everyone!

  8. Sorry to say but the bag snob is supposed to be on the cutting edge. That’s the value add of reading the bog..right?? It’s not good when the readers have more information than the so called “snob”…sorry..

  9. wow, let’s not get too carried away with the definition of snob.. and since when sharing honest opinion on this blog is responded with ‘bitchy, catty and unclassy’… I see none of that until those words are used in attacking other readers.

    Honestly, I already give Sharon a big break by not reading most of her posts. It is just this one… it ticked me off to share my opinion. She really has a few years to catch on and I hope by the time she does, I am still reading this site to know… Tina and Kelly, please do not abandon the faithful readers to this kind of bag updates…
