Victoria Beckham in Quentin Mackay Persia Two Handle Bag

vb.jpg

The only thing I like more than Victoria Beckham’s bag in this photo are her Loubies! I’m making a mental note as I write to add some Loubie booties to my Hanukah wish list! As for the bag, Beckham took a break from her usual Hermes in favor of the Quentin Mackay Persia Two Handle Bag (£1695). I like this bag a lot, but I can imagine that many may find the detailing creepy. There is a Cartier-esque quality to the claw hardware, but I think that the way it’s done is so delicate that from afar you don’t even notice that there are long claws. The bag’s lining is red suede (wonder if VB purposefully wore her red-soled booties in light of that!?), and there are two interior pockets and one interior zip pocket. The piece was obviously very intricately constructed and is certainly a bag that will last for years.

What do you think the Quentin Mackay Persia Two Handle Bag? Snob or Slob?

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. I noticed this bag a while back on Brown’s website and have admired it since. Also, had never heard of the designer before. Different and edgy, but classy and elegant at the same time. SNOB!

  2. Absolute snob! The claw hardware is a subversive wink that takes this from a pretty basic classic to something more. I want!

  3. I think that it is very EDGY!!! I love the Classic Shape with the Claws!! So very funky!!! I don’t know how you feel about the word FUNKY, but I like it!!!

  4. It really upsets me that this bag is so expensive, I saw it in Fortnum and Mason and immediately fell in love, I was speaking to the conniseur and he said ‘only £4,500’ thats all very well if you’ve got that kind of money, but being a 17 year old thats had a normal upbringing I dont have the luxury of having that kind of money, a note for future designers; please make you’re beautiful handbags a bit more affordable so the likes of myself, who have a keen eye for handbags and such can have the pleasure of wearing one !

  5. He has been kicked out of Browns, no idea what he has but they do not have very nice things to say about him.

Browns takes almost any designer so must have been bad.

  6. Hi – I have a QM bag and absolutely LOVE it. Yes it is not cheap but this is true luxury – handcrafted, top quality materials, etc. This is an heirloom bag that I plan to pass on to my daughter some day. That said it wasn’t even close to £4,500 – I think that is the price for the really high-end exotics but the leather bags are much more reasonable. Don’t know about Browns but I have heard that they may be having financial problems and that the son, who runs the company, isn’t in the same league as his parents who started it.

  7. I am in love with QM’s “In love bag” (this rare piece of magic can be seen on his website) and purchased quickly before they all sell out. I feel so happy every time I look at and feel this masterpiece of accessory perfection. This designer lives and breathes in the world of luxury and is one step ahead every time with his collections. Every woman and man need to witness and touch these truly gorgeous and divine antiques of the future. Thank you Quentin for being you. Your creations are every woman’s dream.
