Jessica Simpson’s Louis Vuitton Obsession

Jessica Simpson in Louis Vuitton Speedy Cube

Madonna may have made a splash in her ads for Louis Vuitton, but there’s still no celebrity I associate more with the brand than Jessica Simpson. Perhaps it’s because she memorably whined about wanting an LV bag for her dog on her reality show and then ended-up getting a slew of LV pieces for her birthday, but I feel like every other picture I see of Simpson she is in another generic LV piece. I know for a fact that Simpson is one of those celebrities that has a huge impact on what people buy because when I interned at Gucci in college, the classic black horsebit bag was unofficially re-named the “Jessica Bag,” since it immediately flew off the shelves after the starlette was photographed in it (literally they could not keep the bag in stock at any of the Gucci boutiques). So for better or worse, we may be partially able to blame Simpson for the seemingly never-ending popularity of monogrammed LVs.

What are your thoughts on Simpson’s LV collection? Have you ever spotted a photo of her wearing an LV you went out and bought?

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?

  1. I agree that J Simps is one of a hand full of celebs that we can blame for the perpetual popularity of the monogrammed LV bags. Lately I have found myself shuddering at her bag selections and fantasizing about which amazing bags I would indulge in if I had the kind of money that she does. I never will understand why women waste money on the monogrammed LVs when there are so many gorgeous bags to be had in this world.

  2. If people look at these two photos you posted and think she is anything but a slob, they need to have their heads examined. LV should be embarrassed having her walking around like some common college girl with their bag on her arm.

  3. Whoever or whatever it is LV is LV! Expensive high -end bags only for those who can afford. Simple and true facts. some celebrities add more chic to it, and that includes Jessica Simpson.

    Love LV forever!

  4. People would just spend that much money simply Jessica is carrying that bag. Maybe in USA but nobody cares about her in Europe or Asia. She only appeals to certain age group too. And what if people do buy because of celebrity carries it? Many style icons in history carry LV, for me, it is Audrey Hepburn that I immediately associate with LV. (of course, amond her LBD and Tiffany’s) LV is the oldest high-end fashion house since 1854. I buy because they make quality stuffs and even the monogram collections has endless new creations. They must be doing some really right to continue to be so successful.

  5. I personally could never hate the LV monogram simply because I loved it in my teen years. Now however, it is not something I lust after seeing as there are so many wonderful bags in the world. (I would still love to have vintage LV luggage, that will never stop being lux). Jessica Simpson, bless her, has had her fair share of style mishaps.

  6. Ugh, I simply HATE her style. She dresses like a slob even though she has a handbag wardrobe worth the GNP of a small country.

  7. Correction: Jessica Simpson WAS one of those celebrities that HAD a huge impact on what people buy. Her fifteen minutes have long been over. I don’t think anyone cares what she does, says or wears. I am surprised the papparazzi are still photographing her…especially when she insists on going out looking like a total slob.

  8. not really. I don`t really like the way she combines her handbags with the rest of the outfit. She seems like doesn`t care at all about the basic laws of fashion. What, now all because we`re Jessica Simpson, we put on a LV handbag and there we go all looking fabulous?
