3.1 Phillip Lim Sidra Camera Bag

pslim.jpg

Ok ladies (and trendy gents), before I delve further into this bag, generating your much-appreciated boos and cheers, let me tell you a secret: this is Phillip Lim’s favorite bag for spring. Translation: tread lightly. All kidding aside, I was immediately drawn to this bag when previewing it in Phillip’s showroom a few months back due to its prominent bow detail. Crafted of calfskin leather in grey or honey (pictured here) and python-embossed, this day bag features a canvas-lined inside with one big compartment, a small inner pocket and a larger pocket on the front, under the flap. Straps–the longer the better–are a big trend for spring and this one adjusts enough without being obnoxious. As a guy, I can appreciate a practical top handle–trust me, it’s more than for show. Yes, at quick glance, it does echo the aesthetics of Proenza Schouler’s drool worthy PS1 satchel. But, much like with each designer’s respective cult followings, this is the must-have for the woman who prefers her Marc Jacobs Mary-Janes over Nicholas Kirkwood skyscrapers.

$750 at 3.1 Phillip Lim stores in New York (212) 334-1160 and Los Angeles (310) 358-1988.

  1. I think this bag is SWEET!!! I see the resemblance to the PS1 Satchel, but its not he is trying to KNOCK IT OFF!! I THINK IT IS ADORABLY CHIC!!!!

  2. The bow has to go, and the hard foldover flap is incongruent with the relaxed body. It’s ok. At least it isn’t egregiously expensive.

  3. Are you kidding? Your writing style may be entertaining but your taste and experience in bags leaves much to be desired. A bow tie on fake snakeskin? The snobs would have advised us to stay away at all cost!

  4. i like the fact that its less than 1k… wonder if you could remove the bow? it looks like its made of a weird material

    beautiful color great for blondes
