After all the talk of this new Bottega Veneta bag I ordered, I thought it’s about time I reviewed it. I wanted to wait for it to arrive in stores in February but it is all over the ads already! This is a total trend bag even though it has a classic shape and feel – it’s rare that you get both! The super thin and thus “superlight” leather is folded randomly and then painted. When unfolded, Tomas Maier’s genius is revealed in striking degrade patterns that are organic yet controlled. It goes from dark at the edges and evens out as it feathers out. His genius doesn’t just end there, the structure of the bag also has the folded motif, the sides are billowing with a deep fold along the gusset (you can stick you hands in there, it’s like one giant pleat). There are of course signature Bottega details, like the braided handle (so comfy!) and the braid that goes down the center. Whew, I’m getting tired describing- obviously, this is a bag you need to go in and see in person. Comes in this yolk (yellow is huge for Spring), as well as, Tobacco (featured in their ad). “Superlight” doesn’t just refer to the weight, the bag is only $1200 – for a Bottega Veneta leather!!! I just can’t get behind a bag that’s folded and then dyed to get that effect. reminds me too much of tie-dye. Ick! I suppose that’s why the price is so cheap. Even if it’s not for me, I hope you enjoy it in good health. You obviously love it!
I don’t know….it looks like a loaf of bread before it’s been baked. You know, that’s been brushed with a beaten egg to give it a nice color once it bakes. Kind of strange that it evokes that image, but there you have it.

Kelly, that’s the bag I ordered from the trunk show. It’s really gorgeous in person. I couldn’t get over the price. The other designers should take notice and lower their prices as well…

I think this bag is just gorgeous. it looks strong and sturdy and soft. I would just love to feel it and smell it! Very attractive! However many better options other than this are available online.more here
I saw this bag at the trunk show in BH. I couldn’t believe the price. A total bargain. If anyone needs a great SA, call Sonia….I have been working with her for 10 years. She is the greatest!! Honest and always helpful. I just bought a Cabat from her. Some of the SA on Rodeo are only interested in selling and not being honest with the customer….that is so NOT her. Call her!

This bag is nothing like that other bag, other than the handle. The Superlight has so much volume and hangs so beautifully at your side. Bottega Veneta is one of those designers you can own the whole collection of!

It’s big, but because it is slouchy it does not take over your body. I would say it is almost 20″ wide when you lay it flat but the slouch takes about 4 inches off. Probably 16″ high at the opening. Sounds big but it is totally manageable if you’re at least 5’4″.

I am browsing the BV website, and come across the bag that you have posted last month. I have a question though; the price lists on their website is 1,550 for the bag you posted, not 1,200. I am pretty sure they are the same bag. Can you verify for me on the price, or maybe they come in different sizes. Thanks!

This bag is available for pre-order on the bottega website and it says $1550. Did you buy it for 1200? How is that so? I so wanted to buy it for 1200 and I’m not sure if it is 1550. Let me know

The bag is in fact $1550, for some reason at the trunk show I had $1200 in my mind but when I went to pay for it, I was surprised that the total was $1700 with tax. Sorry for the confusion.
