Jay-Z in Louis Vuitton Ostrich Skin Backpack

Beyoncé Knowles, unlike most women, has it easy when it comes to shopping for the man in her life. The solution? Get him a backpack. Hubby Jay-Z is rarely spotted without some incarnation of a Louis Vuitton backpack; he last sported an oversized Monogram “Christopher” backpack and now seems to have upgraded in a grandiose way. The rap impresario was snapped by paparazzi exiting the Crillon Hotel in Paris with Vuitton’s ostrich skin backpack (retail price: $24,900) in hand. The rare piece, straight off the men’s Spring 2010 runway, features a nifty built-in towel holder at the base (perhaps he’ll utilize it in St. Tropez soon), but it’s the easy-access handle design that I appreciate most. Backpacks were spotted all over at the recent Fall 2010 men’s shows in Milan and Paris, hinting that the hand’s free trend is making its way over from the women’s side. This bag–which, in my opinion, best suits a man with presence and attitude, not to mention the height to pull it off–allows the user the versatility to be hand’s free or to conveniently carry it as luggage (notice the practical side handle and double-zipper pockets), easily accommodating a weekend’s worth of necessities. It features easy-access buckles, roomy pockets within and a drawstring closure to keep your valuables secure. Backpacks are no longer relegated to pre-adolescents! The category, too, has grown up! What’s more, the ostrich, as much as I can’t help but think of pimples, is a softer and less expensive alternative to alligator–proving that even music moguls are capable of “downsizing.”

  1. I like almost everything in grey. The bag is not bad at all. Ostrich looks ok, but this backpack in crocodile would be just too much !

  2. I personally dislike backpack. It reminds me of the days when I was in primary school. The white shirt and blue pants uniforms. The canings. The many text books teachers force us to carry.

Good times, carefree times, but no backpacks!

  3. Yeah right! I mean I love LV but 24,000 on a backpack! You have to be nuts! I could pay off my medical bills, a nice dent on my student loans! But he is rich, he can afford it, and he has great style!

  4. Awww isn’t that cute? Jay-Z the hardcore rapper is carrying a purse. Big pimpin’ and spend G’s… on a purse.

  5. I have read several good stuff here. Certainly worth bookmarking for revisiting. I surprise how much effort you put to make such a great informative website.

  6. i bought my Christopher Backpack about US$4,200 when it came out early 2004 or 2005 not sure bout the date since it was so long ago..I love the ostrich leather but i decided to go with the taiga sac a dos polaire instead which cost me only about US$5,000+ and 2 months wait cause it was really very hard to get and the wait list was enormous.and less than 30pcs were produced worldwide.thank god i paid ahead and somebody backed out on their purchase and it went to me..I always loved backpacks..i am always travelling so it is very useful to put your big camera, your purchases and still be hands free..
