The Wool and the Gang knitting kit

I saw this Wool and the Gang Peruvian wool waist coat kit on Net-a-porter.com and did a double take. One photo was showing a bag of yarn with knitting needles and the other one displayed an outfit merchandised with knitted wrist bands, legwarmers and vest. After reading the description carefully I was shocked that the customer would actually have to knit the waist coat (vest) themselves. Yes siree, the Wool and the Gang are selling the “raw material” for those nicely merchandised items in the photo and not the actual products. Um, wasn’t ready-to-wear created so we don’t have to DIY? (this is Net-a-porter after all, can you imagine when they start selling raw python skins so you can “make your own exotic bag”?) With a $140 price tag I thought you could buy enough yarn for the whole outfit in the photo, but nope, there are just enough yarn for the tiny waistcoat. Wool and the Gang Peruvian wool waist coat kit here $140

  1. Not always the case – most yarn (except for acrylic) can be between $5 and $30 a ball, and most projects require much more than one ball! (And this doesn’t include all the other things you need like needles, hooks, darning needles, etc…) Still…$140 would be too much for yarn made out of gold.
