Maggie Gyllenhaal in NARS

Stefano Pilati was only half the reason Maggie Gyllenhaal glowed on the red carpet at last night’s world premiere of “Armida” at the Metropolitan Opera. Yes, while the Yves Saint Laurent creative director did design her Edition Soir blush-toned crêpe georgette bow dress (YSL sponsored the soiree), it was François Nars who was responsible for its complementary–and might I add, stunning–final look. Gyllenhaal got first dibs on two NARS summer products not making their official debuts until May 1: the Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, which increases color pigment and helps makeup stay on longer, and the rich Beverly Hills Multiple Tint ($38). Celebrity makeup artist Dotti, who created Gyllenhaal’s look, said she “went with a plain eye because (she) loved the texture of the NARS Pro Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base so much on its own.”

Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, $25, will be available at Sephora; the Multiple Tints (of which there are several varieties) will be available at narscosmetics.com.
