Selma Blair in Marc Jacobs “Paradise Kate” Shoulder Bag

As much as I don’t endorse it, there’s something intriguing about how a celebrity wears her bag in public that’s fascinating to me. Maybe it’s because the world’s their oyster when it comes to materialistic possessions, it makes me even more curious to see what they choose to wear when they’re out and about and not glammed up for the red carpet. Cue Selma Blair, whose style and acting chops I have always been a big fan of. She’s a little dark, a little aloof appearing but a true style star at the end of the day. She doesn’t follow trends but you’ll always see her in a great bag that’s both stylish and utilitarian. I love Marc’s new spring collection bag on her. It really is a great example of of casual chic: a long-strap shoulder bag in soft, buttery leather trimmed with baby studs and the signature Marc Jacobs padlock. As evident by this photo, it’s plenty roomy and adjustable to be worn crossbody style (the strap measures an 18″ drop) and secured with a top zip closure. On Selma, it’s a great everyday bag perfect for work. I love how she works it with the jeans and fitted waistcoat-like jacket; it’s a nice juxtaposition of hard and soft. The only thing I would warn about this shape of bag is exactly that: it’s shape–or lack thereof. $950, available at Saks Fifth Avenue and www.saks.com.
