Shadow Shields

Creating the smoky eye look usually ends up with a smoky smeary mess under the eyes. I have tried different tricks – applying shadow first then foundation so you can clean easily; putting a ton of powder below the eyes and then using a big brush to sweep away the fallout; or placing tissue below the eyes when applying shadow. These Shadow Shields is most like the last trick. This is a crescent shaped cotton pad with an adhesive strip on the back. The adhesive is in 3 parts, one larger section in the middle and 2 smaller on the edges. You can opt for whatever combination works for you, or do all 3. I don’t recommend doing all 3. Actually, I don’t recommend any of the options because it is extremely uncomfortable but more importantly, the removal of it tugs too much at my delicate under eye area. You do not want to put a sticker, no matter how gentle the adhesive is, on that area. Yes, it does keep shadow fallout from messing up your face but while you are putting on the shadow you can’t blink or the corners will dig right into your eye. Ouch. I kind of thought my eye shape was not “standard” (since it only comes in one shape) so I tried trimming it but then I trimmed too much and that one spot got exposed to fallout. It was just too complicated to get it just right. But it still does not relieve my anxiety of possibly causing wrinkles under my eyes! My best trick is still powder under the eyes. It is a bit messy and I can’t exactly do it in my car, but for the occasional smoky eye application, I can deal with it. The Shadow Shields comes in a box of 30 for $12.99.
