Snob or Slob: Sarah Jessica Parker in Proenza Schouler

With the world premiere of “Sex and the City 2” just a little over a week away, Sarah Jessica Parker is on a wardrobe spree while promoting what is sure to be a blockbuster hit. On Friday, she was spotted in Central Park conducting an interview clad in a blue patterned silk dress and black tissue jersey shirt from Proenza Schouler’s Fall 2010 collection. Keep in mind, Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez channeled a buttoned-up woman for fall, layering her with staple pieces that verged on collegiate (the black and white inkblots shown sporadically throughout the collection, meanwhile, was inspired by the artist Christopher wool). Personally, I think the dress itself is very cute and girly–but I don’t necessarily like it when paired with the bag and evening tuxedo jacket. Maybe she was cold, so I’ll give her the benefit of the doubt. Also, while I’m a big fan of baby blue and thus was immediately attracted to this dress, does anyone else think SJP needs to dress a bit more age appropriate? She has a killer body and is style savvy, but what I wouldn’t give to see her in a chic Jil Sander pantsuit with a fabulous brooch. After a certain age–Carrie Bradshaw or not–a woman’s just got to give it a rest.
