LORAC’s Little Black Palette

Most people I know are pretty picky about what shadows they use. Either they wear one shade consistently or they are constantly changing up their colors to coordinate with their outfit/mood. For the most part I like to stick with relatively neutral beiges, browns, grays, and black and add pops of color via eye liner. Designer Allen Schwartz of A.B.S. and celebrity makeup artist Carol Shaw have however teamed-up with LORAC to create a  Little Black Palette ($32; $72 value – this palette is a lot bigger than it looks in the photo above!) meant to be the cosmetics equivalent of the little black dress. It has 4 color-coordinating, warm gold and bronze Baked Eye Shadows and a mini Behind the Scenes Eye Shadow Primer.

While I can’t say that I would opt for these shades everyday, I really like the darkest brown shade in the compact. It has just the right amount of shimmer and it glides on smooth over the primer. It’s also very easy to blend with liner or other shadows (goes particularly well with the bronze to its left). LORAC is one of my fave lines (swear by their Perfectly Lit Oil-Free Luminizing Powder), and their quality never disappoints. This is also a chic-looking compact and a great value (even if you only like two of the four shades!). Plus I’ve been spending most of my weekends in the Hamptons so I’m loving that the compact comes with primer – one less thing to stuff in an already over-stuffed makeup bag!

  1. I have this but I broke one of them so I’m not sure that it’s that suitable for travelling. Lovely colours, though.
