Black Swan: Natalie Portman in Rodarte Costumes

Not since “The September Issue” have I been this excited to see a movie–purely for the fashion. Ok, ok, I’m probably looking forward to the storyline and acting chops of those starring in “Black Swan,” Darren Aronofsky’s fall thriller that debuts in September at the Venice Film Festival. Natalie Portman, who stars alongside Mila Kunis and Winona Ryder, dons a wardrobe of costumes designed exclusively for her by Rodarte’s Kate and Laura Mulleavy. Check out one image the studio has released: aren’t they divine? With Rodarte’s mystifying and magical appeal, they seem naturally suited for the theatre stage. I hope this is the first of many more movie collaborations from these sisters. “The character was very interesting to play, always challenging and surprising,” Portman told USA Today. And in these costumes, I’m sure her burden was lightened just so.
