Chloé Darla Bowler

chloe_darla_bowler.jpg

While I was sad to learn that my favorite Chloé bag from the fall collection–a simple, unadorned leather doctor’s bag crafted from the most sumptuous vachetta leather–wasn’t going to be produced, Chloé’s new Darla bowler bag more than makes up for the hole in my heart. Yes, it’s a grainy nubuck calfskin leather (more scratch resistant) and a bit more adorned what with the strap buckles and luggage tag-like detail, but it’s still a very chic day bag. Truth be told, it’s been some time since I had that wow factor with a Chloé bag; the Darla, though conventional in shape and attitude, has a striking quality to it that I’m drawn to. I think it’ll look gorgeous paired with fall’s streamlined aesthetic. Can’t you just picture this bag worn with a pair of snow white wide leg slacks and a 50 ply cashmere turtleneck sweater? It oozes Park Avenue, Greenwich, San Francisco’s Nob Hill. And it’s plenty roomy to boot! Ladies, it’s time to give Chloé handbags a second look.

  1. Jim, have you seen the Aurore via the Saks website? Could that be the one you are referring to? It is lovely…

  2. Hmmm, I actually disagree – I think Chloe has been producing some beautiful, timeless, high quality bags pretty consistently. This one, however, is too blah for me.

  3. this bag makes my heart go bumpity-bump in a big way! I actually love the nubuck – as much as I adore vachetta I simply cannot manage to keep it looking nice.

  4. I’m surrounded by ladies who think logo is fashion. Its a wonderful breath of fresh air to have Chloe in my life. The bag is gorgeous and what it stands for is even better!!I’m cool and chic and thank God you’re not carrying my bag!!
