Backstage Beauty: Fendi Spring 2011

God how I love Fendi! If there’s one collection that has me wishing I could magically be teleportated to Milan it’s the exuberantly optimistic-looking Fendi collection. The fur (yes even for Spring), the belts, the handbags, the bright colors – so chic, lightweight, and easy. Sure it was low on experimentation and some of the looks were a bit to peasant-esque for my taste, but Lagerfeld designed an unmistakeably made for summer collection full of life and color.

To complement the clothes and accessories makeup artist Peter Philips used a variety of bright lip shades including Barbie pink and orange. The popping lips gave a welcome adventurous balance to the collection and to keep the focus on them, only a neutral shade of Chanel’s Le Crayon Yeux in Brun and Chanel Inimitable Intense Mascara was used on the eyes, while Philips opted for Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush in Rose Pétale on the models’ cheeks (Philips is Chanel’s Global Creative Director of Makeup).

As for the hair, hairstylist Sam McKnight created blunt cuts on the models whose hair was trimmed, before stylists added in extensions. Such a great S/S look full of life and movement!

If you’re looking to re-create the lips, check-out Fever from Hourglass (hot pink) and Fruity Orange from Givenchy. For hair Redken Iron Silk 07 and Vinyl Glam 02 will help give hair that sleek, healthy look without weighing it down so much that it won’t be able to move.
