The folks behind the always-reliable Crabtree & Evelyn have just introduced a new 10-piece collection inspired by the Iris. They worked with a number of perfumers to get the right balance of notes for their fragrance and the final product has iris, violet, and jasmine at its core, with top notes of Italian bergamot and cassis and base notes of sandalwood, patchouli, vetivier, cedarwood and musk. Naturaly there’s a wide spectrum of how musk, cassis, etc can smell depending which ones end up being used, so while this isn’t a fragrance I’d spray on my body, the eau de toilette would make for a nice room mist (3.4fl oz, $28 or 1fl oz, $20). The body products in the collection retail mostly for under $20 and have a spring/summer like iris-topped packaging. I tried the body lotion and it was nice and greasy like I like my lotions to be and the fragrance was just strong enough to be invigorating, but nothing so over-powering that it lasted for a more than a few minutes. When it comes to Crabtree however, it’s the soaps I care most about! Iris fans if there’s one thing to get from this collection, it’s the Iris Triple Milled Soap Set – super conditioning and you’ll feel so refreshed after lathering yourself with the soap in the shower.
