MICHAEL by Michael Kors Uptown Astor Suede Tote

This bag is a great representation of what Michael Kors is all about – good old American charm. Tina and I were buying up Michael Kors bags a few years back like there was no tomorrow but not until now have I felt the need to go back on a Kors bender. This is a simple tote but the way the straps are attached gives it a twist that is young and effortless. The bag has an overall effortless vibe – I envision a girl in skinny jeans, bohemian scarf and pointy flats running around town leaping up curbs and throwing her hair back. The gold studs, although plentiful, are actually quite subtle because it completely meshes with the light brown suede bag and dark leather straps. They don’t scream out at you like it is meant to be flashy embellishments. This is the kind of bag you will own, love and use until it literally falls apart. I would remove the MK tag, though. At Net-a-Porter for $450.

  1. Ah, the gaudy MK tag. That is the single reason why I won’t buy a Michael Kors bag. It just makes them look cheap and I can guarantee it is the thing I fixate on when I first spot the bag. Some of them don’t even appear to be removeable. Why doesn’t he come up with a less flashy logo?

  2. Those kind of logos can be removed. My issue is that suede is notorious for crocking onto clothing. Other than that, I like the bag.

  3. I love Michael Kors handbags and own alot of them (about 10). I don’t find his handbags overdone at all. They are classic and functional. The leather is beautiful. You can pull out this bag 5 years from now, and it won’t look dated. I don’t mind the logo. All of his bags’ logo tags are removable unlike some designers.

  4. The Astor is my favorite on of all his style bags and I agree 100% in removing the MK tag and using it as a keychain. I’m not into logos and that cheapens the look of the bag. The suede and luggage color are two of my favs!

  5. I’m a fan of Kors bags, they’re such classic designs – they’re never so trendy that you couldn’t carry them for years. But I agree, that tag has to go.
