What else speaks more to sea than the bikini? Swimsuit shapes and cover-ups led the charnge in Massimiliano Giornetti’s spring collection at Ferragamo, inspired by Romy Schneider in 1969’s sexy “La Piscine.” A mosaic of sun-kissed Tuscan colors in a sophisticated palette, ranging from sage and jade to malachite and lemonade, made the pieces pleasing to the eye–a natural must given the collection’s resort-like feel. Again, playing up the idea of contrasts, ribbed silk mini-tops and micro-polo shirts were paired with voluminous skirts with embroidered flounces and voile applications. A cool Sahara jacket with a drawstring waist was chic, its wide lapels channeling the relaxed allure of a trench-dressing gown. For evening, the airiness of the flowing chiffon dress lays bare the underlay of a silk bathing suit.
