Color Saturated Eye Lids: Snob or Slob?

Makeup artist extraordinaire Pat McGrath once again created the look for the Christian Dior show this season. Similarly to what we saw for Spring 2010 it was a dramatic, vampy, film noir-esque look complete with super-vivid, highly saturated eyes. Bold shades of pink, green, and blue are no easy task to pull-off (especially when paired with a matte orangy-red lip, which in this case was achieved using Rouge Dior No. 752 lipstick). The key to the look McGrath created was the thin line of liquid liner applied along the top lashes (you can see it being applied in the image on the right), and the filled in brows which help shape the face around the eyes. McGarth works with CoverGirl, so a number of the products she used were from the drug store brand. For eyes, if you’re looking re-create this look, get Eye Enhancers in aqua, blue, red, or green.

I personally love the boldly dramatic Christian Dior look, but if you want to tone it down a notch, use a more neutral shadow and apply a thin line of an intensely pigmented color liner above your top lash line. What do you think about the Christian Dior makeup look this season? Do you think it can be translated into “real life”?

DO YOU LOVE IT OR HATE IT?
