Fendi Spring 2011

Silvia Venturini Fendi’s take on her brand’s spring bags is solid and strong. Having checked out the spring goods in person last week, the bags aren’t groundbreaking or particularly trend setting, but they are great everyday pieces that will appeal to women of all ages and styles. One of my favorite shapes is Fendi’s “It” bag for spring: the Silvana. Cast in a rainbow of color combinations, the clasp is hidden underneath a tab of leather or croc (depending on your choice of skin) to main a clutter-free façade while the handle is contrasted in leather with a brass buckle. It’s really more of a “cute” bag than anything, but I can see an 80-year-old grandmother carrying this bag as much as I can a high schooler. A cousin of the Silvana is the long-strapped saddle-like bag that I LOVE! It reminds me a bit of that Céline/Hermès box shape. The other new interpretation is the “Too Bag” soft-sided tote (the classic Fendi stripe is known as the pequin).
