I’ll be the first to say I do like Charlotte Olympia’s shoes–her collaboration with Peter Som for his recent runway show produced gorgeous results–but I’m at a loss for words for her clearly playful take on a classic wood platform pump. Obviously this isn’t an everyday shoe; I can already see it on the Neiman’s Last Call rack come June. No doubt some wacky celebrity like Katy Griffin or perhaps style icon Anna Dello Russo will sport these (if the latter did, however, I have no doubt it would look incredible). My point is: while many will ooh and aah over these shoes, the incredible majority won’t realistically open their wallets to purchase these. These are fruit shoes! Maybe if your last name is Del Monte you would. But I’ve got to give Charlotte props for her imagination and gusto.
