Charlotte Olympia Paloma Satin Platform Pumps: Slob or Snob?

Charlotte Olympia is one of my favorites. I think her designs are unique and beautiful and I love the bold use of color and texture. This however, this is not on my top ten list of Charlotte Olympia must haves.

I’m not a huge fan of white pumps in general. My experience with them has been that they are hard to pull off without looking tacky and are absolutely impossible to keep clean, especially if you have ever taken public transportation in your life (I stepped in a carton of fries covered in ketchup while wearing a pair of camel suede pumps on the subway once, no lie).

I do love the ultra feminine ruffle fan back detail on these; it packs a subtle punch and would look great with a simple cocktail dress, but the platform is a little much for me combined with the white. That is saying a lot because my motto is usually the higher, the better, but in this case, I have to pass.

What do you guys think? Are these just too much, or just enough?

  1. To be honest, I detest the platform soles on these – detest; simply because the fan detail is gorgeous and “pretty”. Sometimes an edge to something just don’t work! This is such a “sometime”! Sorry!

  2. These look very bridal to me. I just don’t see anyone wearing a pair of white satin shoes unless they are taking a walk down the aisle. I also think that a smaller platform that is a bit more “graceful” looking would fit the elegance of the white satin much better.

  3. My first thought was that these shoes are too delicate for the platform. They are very bridal and would be great for a bride who wears a dress that is not full length. I agree they would also work with a pretty cocktail dress.

    The platform make these slob.
