Gwyneth Paltrow in Custom Emilio Pucci

She may play a country crooner–can you believe she actually gained weight for the role?–but Gwyneth Paltrow was the picture of sleek sophistication at her “Country Strong” premiere. The man responsible for this divine creation? Emilio Pucci creative director Peter Dundas, who designed this custom gown based from a spring runway look. It’s easy to think “white, simple, jersey” and think Calvin Klein Collection; indeed, the dress did initially bring me back to Gwyneth’s Ben Affleck era, when she was the picture of minimalism in Calvin Klein. But look carefully and you’ll see the sexy, almost dominatrix-like, side corseting up the slit that gets wider as it traces up her back. Speaking of backs: holy cow! But then it hit me: I’ve seen this gown before. A little research and voila! Kate Hudson wore a similar backless gown to the 2010 SAG Awards–and guess what? It was by Pucci, natch.
