Halston Fall 2011

Halston showed a more wearable collection that was updated with daytime looks that worked (Sarah Jessica Parker was not in attendance due to filming). It was still all that very elongated, sexy, lots of fabric Halston of seasons past which I was getting sick of (how many seasons of that same dress can one possibly do???) but it was separates, coats, vests, full trousers and jumpsuits. For dramatic purposes – an asymmetrical gown with one beaded bikini top, for Samantha in SATC3 perhaps? The easy and loose jumpsuit with obi belt is totally wearable for day, the sleeveless coat with rabbit fur detail is a staple piece and draped cocktail dresses are easy go to pieces for all those in-between events that are impossible to dress for. Although there were pieces I will definitely be including in my Fall wardrobe, I left the show wanting more. While everyone is going to town on the 70’s look, Halston should have led the charge but instead it hid in the past still trying to relive the good old days.

On another note, we are so enjoying our stay at the W Hotel Times Square— huge thanks for inviting us to be one of the W Hotel Fashion Insiders!
