Q-POT "Dog Tag" Necklace

I’m such a huge Jeff Koons fan that I went out of my way last summer, while in Biarritz, to go to Bilbao to see his Tulip sculpture and his Topiary Dog, both at the Guggenheim Museum. What a genius! And I’m not even going to touch on how amazing the Frank Gehry-designed museum is…needless to say, if you have the chance, go! I guess Q-POT feels the same way about Koons. I’m not familiar with the brand, but I came across their cheeky “Dog Tag” necklace ($120) while browsing Colette online and it’s clearly inspired by Koons’ Balloon Dogs. I don’t like the chain, but it works in that it plays into the “dog tag” theme and the bright eye-catching colors add to the fun element of the design. My only peeve is that there isn’t a mention of Koons in the description when it’s obvious that this necklace was inspired by his famous Balloon Dog works!

  1. Wow the topiary dog is amazing. Love the blue balloon dog.

I don’t know if you can say it is clearly inspired by Koon. I personally had never heard of Koon but I have definitely seen a balloon dog before.

I would love a giant Koon balloon dog though. Super cute!

  2. Q-pot is actually quite the rage in Japan, their designer went from being a fashion model to a jewellery designer within a matter of years, and based his designs solely on things cute and “yummy looking”. Their chocolate and macaron shaped accessories look real enough to eat, and have been popular Valentine’s gifts (as opposed to chocolate that is consumed and gone forever).
