Rag & Bone Women’s Fall 2011

In a strong, solid collection that felt particularly approachable and wearable, Marcus Wainwright and David Neville sought inspiration from a fantastical journey to the Arctic Circle. In their show notes they called it “futuristic Eskimo.” Fused with ski wear and a blizzard of fabulous coats, the heavily layered effect was dramatic and cozy. The capes were a standout, done in terrific color and fabric combinations. Cowhide, wools, tweeds and even Neoprene (yes, you read that right) were fashioned into the garments, many of them lined in knits and shearling. And lest I forget, no one does a better padded thigh-high sock than Rag & Bone.
