La Mer The Radiant Serum

I was able to try a sample of La Mer’s latest sea-derived skin booster, The Radiant Serum ($250 for 1oz), and have been applying it post cleansing every night for the last 3 weeks (you’re actually supposed to use it twice a day, but I prefer to use SPF products when I can by day and I’m usually in a rush so I rather use just an anti-aging cream/moisturizer rather than that plus a serum). The green serum is described as a gel, but it’s definitely on the fluid side of the gel spectrum, so don’t expect anything sticky or gummy. I’m not in love with the scent, but it’s light and dissipates quickly. You have to moisturize after applying the serum, but it’s fast absorbing and lightweight so you can apply a moisturizer immediately after. There’s definitely a give and take with this serum, while I’m not a fan of the drying feel that I got every time I used it, it gives an instant skin tightening feel and lives up to its brightening claim. Of course it’s hard to know exactly what I can attribute this to (and just FYI I’m currently using Sephora Collection Age Defy Moisture Cream SPF 15 in the AM), but my skin has been blemish-free and baby smooth for the last month (including during my acne-prone PMS week). It’s also worth noting that I have very sensitive skin and didn’t have any issues on that front with the serum.

Would I recommend splurging on The Radiant Serum? If you’re a La Mer fan I imagine you won’t be disappointed, but if you’re new to the brand I would suggest asking for a sample at your local counter before splurging to make sure you see results noticeable enough to warrant the $250.
