Loeffler Randall Crisscross Mesh Sandals

loeffler_meshsandals.jpg

Lo and behold! The dressy flat sandal is not a thing of myth. Incredibly flattering on the foot, Loeffler Randall’s version delivers the elegance of a heel. With no curves or contouring, flats tend to blatantly show the length of a foot. (As in mine; I’m a 10!) The crossed straps break up the foot, and their mesh is airy and delicate – like gentle breeze on a sunny May day – perfect for ladylike and flouncy dresses. But the sole is completely flat leather, so it is a bit rough for walking. (Take your pick: backache or foot pain? There always has got to be a sacrifice.) In addition to mango and nude, the sandal comes in a zebra trim that is not too exotic, but gives the just-needed smidge of interest. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $325.

Pair with: Crisp white, cap-sleeved, and femininely full in the skirt, this dress by Tibi is just right for the first and festive day of spring. On ShopBop for $770.
