Tiffany at the Oscars: She Made the Stars Sparkle

Natalie Portman might have been the princess of the night, with Anne Hathaway as the court queen, but it was Tiffany & Co. that ruled the Oscars. At least, as far as jewels are concerned. Hathaway – and moreover, her stylist, Rachel Zoe – opted for a traditional look with an astronomical price tag: her 94-carat Lucida Star diamond necklace is valued at $10 million. Combined with the 10-carat diamond earrings and 5-carat ring, the young lady sported about $11 million worth of jewels. In the sage words of Zoe: Ba-na-nas. I die. No doubt, she looked regal and elegant, but it would be difficult not to with all that opulent ice.

Portman, on the other bejeweled hand, took a quirkier approach, with a mix of rubellite earrings with rose-cut diamonds, an Elsa Peretti Diamonds by the Yard bracelet, a diamond ring, and Jean Schlumberger diamond earrings worn as hair accessories (totaling a $100,000 – a relative steal!). Accessory-heavy, yes, especially with the large raspberry tassel earrings, though upon closer inspection, they are delicate and pretty. And that is precisely what the glowing – and winning – Portman was at the Oscars.

Which do you prefer: classic white diamonds for a king’s dowry or a bohemian-riche fusion fit for a plum fairy?
