Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Leather Tote: The Milky Way

bottega.png

I haven’t swooned over a Bottega in two seasons. This piece of ivory heaven makes up for it. Exquisitely pierced leather has been interlaced in Bottega Veneta’s signature Intrecciato weave. Overflowing with texture on each perforated strip, which are then blended into the overall weave – so lush I can’t stand it. And just look at the jagged stitching on the seams.

This tote is a much more useful version of the classic “Cabat” (great but too big and cumbersome for frequent use). With unparalleled workmanship, the shape stays intact and it holds a bunch of stuff without being overwhelming. Functional, functional, functional! Well, then there’s that high-maintenance buttermilk hue. You’ll feel pressured to baby this baby all day long – a huge downside, but still, it’s so beautiful. Yes, it comes in black, but it doesn’t show the texture as well and a big, black tote for summer? I can just feel the heat pouring off the dark leather. Yeah, no thanks. I’ll take my chances with ivory. On Net-a-Porter for $6800 (another downside bummer).

Pair with: Navy-and-white’s a summer classic, and one-pieces don’t get any sleeker than Richard Nicoll Shirt‘s “Lily” cotton playsuit – like a tailored shirt and trouser shorts, not a cutesy romper. On Net-a-Porter for $350.
