Stella McCartney “Alexa” Woven Faux-Leather Tote: Simply Flattering

alexa_woven_faux-leather.png

Strictly speaking design, this bag is the bomb! The profile of this totally flat tote – expand it by unzipping the gussets – is so chic and eye-catching. Especially if you add a twist and use it as a computer case. The double-sided weaving is on-trend this season, but luckily less overt than the literal caning Tiffany used on their bags (I had to return mine after I realized I was carrying around lawn furniture). And in mousy stone-gray, the weave is less country, more city.

I have issues when it comes to Stella’s faux-leather prices. Then again, we all know when shopping designer, we’re just paying for the label. I just don’t like it so blatantly in my face! (A nice amount of denial makes shopping more fun.) But when a bag is as razor-sharp in shape and whip-smartly executed as this – the detachable zip wallet sweetens the deal – I could spring for it. On Net-a-Porter for $1,495.

Pair with: Soften the hard edges, yet compliment the sheer woven paneling of the “Alexa” with Sammy Handmade in Ethiopia‘s gauzy hand-stitched scarf. Sammy Handmade in Ethiopia Star-Embroidered Scarf, $90.

  1. It’s obscene the kinds of prices she charges for what isn’t even leather! I understand paying for the designer name, to a point, but at least give me quality if you’re going to charge those kinds of prices!
