Eugenia Kim “Honey 10” Sunhat: Made in the Shade

Eugenia_Kim_Honey_10_Sunhat.jpg

If you’re going to work a hat, as far as I’m concerned, Eugenia Kim is the way to go. She is THE hat designer (the epic milliner started her business after using one of the hats she made in class at Parsons to hide her bad haircut; the rest is history). This wide-brimmed sunhat is a non-negotiable must-have hat for summer, for the sake of my sunspots as well as my style. While it looks like finely woven straw with a salt-and-pepper tweed texture, it’s even more unique than it appears. There’s an extra cool factor: this entire hat, save the rope and grosgrain ribbon interior detail, is made from toyo paper. Kim even succeeds in making rope look refined, rather than rope’s usual laid-back, nautical vibe. Rain or shine, I’ll be eager to wear this outfit-topper this summer. On Ssense for $255.

Pair with: The light-red cotton tweed of Tibi‘s A-line-skirted frock is in keeping with the feminine tradition of a big sunhat. On ShopBop for $354.
