Gucci Fall 2012 Collection: This Couture is Fur Real

gucci_Fall2012.jpgicon

The runway show for Gucci‘s fall collection marked 90 years of luxe fashion from the house. Frida Giannini decided to pay homage with Gucci classics and celebrate with wearable drama, jewel tones, and fur, fur, fur! While it’s hard for me to envision getting swaddled in fox and goat at the moment, I’ll be genuinely swooning over this rock-solid collection come October.

Whether you’re in the office or out in the cold, you’re covered. Seventies-style cross-scarf blouses, gaucho pants, and feather-bedecked fedoras bring an Annie Hall type of femininity (and the herringbone blazer will be an autumn staple) – strong, certain, and inspired by the dapper gentleman. But it’s the seriously showy pieces that have grabbed my attention. Like the hand-woven goat fur coat, so wildly enveloping it’s bound to get you in touch with your primal side. Too much for you? Take your in fluffy dollops, and inject some color in the process, with fox fur collars in amethyst and cognac.

As far as red dresses go, the fluid silk version, with belled sleeves and neck cut down to there, might prove more comfortable, but who cares once you’ve laid eyes on the leather! Have you ever seen anything so hot? A thin belt and scarf detail are genius – so unconventional for a skin. Available for pre-order at Saks Fifth Avenueicon.
