Kate Middleton in Jenny Packham: Brits Do It Better

Jenny_Packham_gown_Princess_Kate.png

Kate hasn’t wasted any time beginning her royal duties, including showing support of charities. Her first appearance was Thursday night’s 10th Annual Absolute Return of Kids Gala dinner in London, and she made it clear she is also taking her very important duty of dressing the part seriously. She looked every bit the princess (even though she’s technically a duchess) in one of my favorite red carpet designers, Jenny Packham.

The high-sheen dress, in pearlescent rose sequins with Swarovski crystals is radiant, and Kate looks even more so. Packham is known for her incredible embroidery, fine beadwork, and astute use of novelty fabrics, like this burnout velvet. Kate’s becoming known for her poise and with the help of a perfectly fitting gown like this and her teeny-tiny waist. Actually, I have to – objectively – note she looks far better than the runway model in this. With delicate yet impactful details, this dreamy dress is one of the rare ethereal runway looks that translate well to reality – Kate’s royal reality, at least. Which is why we’re sure to see her in lots more looks by Packham. Kate is being loyal to British designers, and they’re obviously working magic on her.

  1. And she wore high street shoes! The British press liked her as much for that as for looking so good in the dress.
