Summer White Pants: Trip the White Fantastic

Long past Memorial Day and you still haven’t snagged your summer white pants? To slump through the season in dark indigos and even faded blues is kind of sad – a good pair of white pants make the rest of your wardrobe, and even more importantly your bum, pop. So at least have a fresh pair ready before the high time of July barbecues hit. Here are my favorites, covering a variety of needs and body types:

It’s not easy to find a cropped jean with a flare. Even more difficult to find such a style that’s flattering, especially if your legs are on the shorter side. But if you have the gams to rock it, this light flare and slimming fit nails the look. J. Brand “GiGi” Cropped Flare Jeans. On ShopBop for $159.

I don’t have to tell you twice that these sex-bomb lace-ups are for the rocker babe with the corresponding rocker babe body (a.k.a. model). Wear with chunky wooden wedges, preferably studded, and a confident strut. Emilio Pucci Lace-Up Stretch-Cotton Pants. On sale at Net-a-Porter for $465 (from $760).

This denim-trouser hybrid adds up to a relaxed look that’s easy on any body type. Just butt-hugging enough, with unfussy give at the knees and side pockets. And a thicker denim fabric decreases the possibility of the pockets’ lining peeping through. Banana Republic White Denim Trousers. At Banana Republic for $89.50.

Who knew fatigue and flap pockets could be so sexy? White has a way of doing that, especially in skin-tight sateen. Plus, patch pockets stitched on the outside eliminate the unsightly problem of your pocket lining showing through (always the first thing to think about when buying white pants). AG Adriano Goldschmied “ACU” Sateen Capri Pants. On ShopBop for $168.
