Prada Bi-Color Suede Mary Jane Boots: Something Wicked This Way Comes

prada_bi_color_suede_mary_jane_boots1.jpgicon

How many ways are there to say no? Definitely not enough for these freakish Mary Jane boots! No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you. This is not a photo of a red shoe on a very peculiar leg. No prosthetics involved, either. These are Prada‘s new hybrid shoe-boots, which look like an unfortunate Halloween costume. Or a prop from “Wicked.” And I probably don’t have to tell you it’s a really bad sign if your boots call to mind the bottom half of an evil witch’s set of gams. Even without the silly flesh-toned boot, these Mary Janes are no ruby slippers. No self-respecting Dorothy would approve of that knobby button!

Too lazy to shave? Craving the look of suede legs? Can’t decide between a demure Mary Jane and a knee-high boot? I can’t imagine the motivation to even consider trying to work these into your wardrobe. The only acceptable reason to wear these would be due to extreme cold, but then again, just wear normal boots! At Saks Fifth Avenueicon for $1,400.

  1. Horrifying! At first glance I thought it was just a vaguely outdated looking mary-jane that you guys had done a terrible limb-severing photoshop job on. Imagine my shock!
    So bad.

  2. @ Sandra, but even if you buy it for $14 that means you would have to wear it? *shudder*

@ Sarah, most people I showed it to thought it was an ugly Mary Jane on an oddly skinned foot/leg model, but the shock is actually funnier when you finally realize what you’re looking at!! As I’m sure you experienced =)

  3. I personally like it! This particular one is an unfortunate shade of beige but the other colours are a fascinating and fresh take on colourblocking. I feel that kelly just picked on this particular one for the severed limb jokes. No offence, I still loved the writing, but this style by prada is not that bad. Tbh, that fendi oxford monstrosity is more gross.

    1. I can totally relate to your thoughts about the Fendi oxford, it’s just weird but you have to admit, it gets your attention! But regarding this unfortunate boot, they just should not have done the flesh toned boot, it is just way too tempting for the prosthetic / severed limb jokes. Come on! They must have known!! =)

  4. i really like the collection come with this collection together which is the combanation of suade and snake skin in green or blue, where can i buy them? it seems like this style is the only one on websites.

  5. If always love to ask, if Prada didn’t market these, but instead they were sitting in a Joyce Leslie window or on one of those tacky Rainbow type of stores with big yellow $10 tags, would u still LOVE them? These are atrocious and I can’t believe Saks is selling them (they’re on sale and still have plenty of sizes if u love them!! $559.99)
