Tod’s “Ava” Python Tote: Back to (Not So Basic) Basics

Tods_AvaPython_Tote.png

With a recent slew of slouchy bags, Tod‘s almost made us forget that the house was built on structured pieces. The “Ava” marks return to classicism! She’s got sharp angles, countered by a friendly, expandable center, which puts the python exterior center stage. The suede sides smartly punctuate the snake – an exclusively python bag sometimes overwhelms the skin’s luxuriousness, forcing it to lose focus and distinction.

Notice the seam down the middle of the front. You might say it’s for symmetry – it does highlight the handle design, which I’m loving as it provides the bag with necessary flair – but it’s really done to purposely use only the best part of the python. In gray, this bag is sumptuous, chic, and ideal for hiding dirt. Which is good because the top zip of this spacious tote enforces the fact it’s designed for city girls (as if the structured shape didn’t let you know).

A refreshing return to the archetype, and for Tod’s and for python, the price is not bad. Now I didn’t say good, but you could definitely do worse (have you checked out the prices of VB’s collection?!?!). Overall, awn investment piece that’s basically a no-brainer. At Saks Fifth Avenue for $3,115.
