3.1 Phillip Lim “Lara” Ankle Boot: Knocking Booties

Calf-hair seems to be the new leather (Alaïa, Krakoff, Zanotti, Atwood, everybody’s doing it!) and it’s all about the bootie. Which means, I better get myself a pair of calf-hair booties for fal! But not just any bootie. No, I want ones that will turn my style up a notch. Or four. The super-low “Lara” by 3.1 Phillip Lim is just the answer.

Animal print has gone from wild and anti-wallflower to a full-on fall/winter staple. There are still loads of fun, innovative ways to wear it (Giuseppe Zanotti has given us fab options lately), even for the everyday. Lim’s abstractly spotted black-and-white bootie, with a low flattened, triangular heel, will feel as wearable as it is fresh. Even the confident pointed toe seems reviving at the moment. Maybe it’s because I’ve taken to sporting a straw cowboy hat lately, and the cowgirl in me is loving the vibe. I’m looking forward to embracing the look on a monochrome outfit with just the feet displaying all the flair. No problem for these ankle boots – they have plenty to go around. At Barneys New York for $550.

Pair with: These will bring spunk to Tibi’s wool-blend pants a tailored, cuffed look that’s cropped to show off your ankles and showcase the shoes. On Net-a-Porter for $265.
