Some bags are great in concept and not in reality, and this Miu Miu clutch is at the top of that list. Oversized in scrunchy wool-felt with an asymmetric frame: it all sounds cool, but then actuality strikes and you realize you have nowhere to wear it.

I cannot underscore the word “oversized” enough. Not only is this a gigantic clutch, it’s wide and protruding in all directions – so cumbersome it would be annoying to carry. The bag comes with a shoulder strap option (so thin, it’s a major contrast against the big body), which makes more sense, but you then lose the cool factor of this giant clutch. It goes from cartoon-cool proportions to an awkward, bubbly shoulder bag.

The way to wear it is by embracing the conceptual idea of a trendy oversized clutch. Scrunch it up and wear something to rock it out (think Minnie Mouse goes softly punk), but let’s be realistic: you still have to deal with the fact that this frame-top clutch is a two-hand ordeal and you’d better not be doing any activities that require your hands.
