McQ Leather-Paneled Wool-Blend Dress: It Leads a Double Life

McQ_Leather_Paneled_Wool_Blend_Dress.png

If Luis Buñuel were filming Belle de Jour now, Catherine Deneuve’s character, Severine (dressed by Yves Saint Laurent himself in the original), would totally wear this dress as she sneaks out from her Paris apartment to her afternoon brothel. This wool-blend sheath is a little schizophrenic – just like Deneuve’s double life-leading character – and I LOVE it!

Today, we are true devotees of McQueen. Or would that be everyday? 😉 Infusing leather to your clothes now (accessories don’t count) is current and essential. When you mix it with traditional charcoal wool, it shows your naughty and nice sides simultaneously. Of course, McQ is never subtle – this graphic, asymmetrical panel is a bold way to incorporate the leather trend. And that’s why I love this diffusion line – you get the fierce edge that only McQueen can bring at prices far more manageable. Only a fraction of McQueen’s chain embellished bondage belt! Or if you don’t care about such trivial details, wear the belt over the dress! =)

Covering up while showing some skin (even though it’s not your own, it’s still racy!) – this off-kilter dress encompasses just how Severine juggled her twisted life. On Net-a-Porter for $795.

Pair with: Don’t go demure when it comes to accessorizing. Go for a funky look with the highest platforms you can find. This pair of two-tone Mary Janes by Yves Saint Laurent looks docile in the front, but packs a ridged, patent-leather punch in the back. On Net-a-Porter for $945.
