Deborah Lippmann Fall Nail Color, Billionaire: The Color of Money

deborahlippmann_polish.jpg

You can always count on fingernail guru and number-one celeb manicurist Deborah Lippmann for each season’s latest and greatest polish craze. We’ve all done the grays to death -now that we’ve seen graphite in every shade imaginable, they’re starting to look a little bland. Where does that leave me? I’m not one for bright-red nails (unless it’s Christmas or Chinese New Years!); I still prefer muted dark shades that don’t scream. Enter Billionaire, fresh out of Lippmann’s fall collection, which also boasts Single Ladies, deep red; Brick House, shimmering rust; and Stormy Weather, off-black slate. But it’s Billionaire that is dark, quirky, and yes, so rich! Apparently, the color of money (though not as a green as a dollar bill) is exactly what I was looking for.

It has a hint of hue, but at first glance it casts a grayish tone, so it’s perfectly neutral. More of a blend of army and forest (Lippmann describes it as “moody hunter green”) than the color of greenbacks, it’s edgy and offbeat-sophisticated. There’s no glitter or glimmer to this crème lacquer, but it’s high-gloss – just what it needs to keep your digits from looking like G.I. Jane’s army tank. And you know you can count on Lippmann’s polish: it’s gentle on your nails (it doesn’t contain bad things like toluene, formaldehyde, or DBP) and it has staying power. At Nordstrom for $16.
