First Glimpse: Chanel Spring 2012 Nail Colors

Everyone is abuzz over the aquatic-themed and ocean-inspired collections that ruled the close of Paris Fashion Week for the Spring 2012 collections – Chanel, Givenchy, and Alexander McQueen all cited the sea as their muse. But as I gazed the Chanel runway images, I have to admit, right after I checked out the bags, my instinct was to go straight to the fingertips. How could I not?! Chanel is as known for their groundbreaking nail colors as they are for their clothes these days!

This year, Global Creative Director Peter Philips went for three shades that are sure to be a hit with beauty snobs of all ages and styles – no outrageous bright sky-blue Riva or shimmering, fishscale-esque Peridot this time. Named after the spring months we look forward to, this selection is easy on the eyes and fits right in with the wardrobe. April is a rosy red that’s in-between every traditional scarlet shade and just the thing to ease you into warmer months; May is a creamy, fresh pink that’s just girly enough; and June is a pale orange-coral, a modern update of their classic Orange Blossom. I say spring for all three and focus on one color during each of the months they represent – like Day of the Week underwear, but so much more glamorous! Set to hit stores in January.
