Bottega Veneta Large Embroidered Intrecciato Leather Shoulder Bag

For some, the plain Veneta hobo is just too, well…plain. Even thought the excitement is in the weave, it might not be enough for some. But you don’t want to get too carried away and ruin a classic so something as subtle as this Safari print can totally seal the deal. The large (or even Jumbo) Veneta has way more character than the precious little sister ones, especially in a novelty design like this, you want to go bold.

Having just come back from Florence and hearing some disturbing things about the manufacturing practices of major brands, this one included, has shocked and depressed me a bit, but I am not here to discuss politics. This is just about aesthetics and no matter what you say, you cannot touch Bottega Veneta when it comes to beauty.

At Net-a-Porter for $2750, which is kind of crazy. Price is another point of discussion that has nothing to do with politics and everything to do with how we are being duped for paying for things that uses the term “Made in Italy” very very loosely. Another topic, another time.

  1. Kelly, I (along with others) would be interested in hearing your insight into the “manufacturing practices.” I have tried to make an effort to be informed about the manufacturing process (labor, material, origins) from start to finish on many of the products I buy, but I have always been suspicious that many products get around a full, truthful exposure, thanks in part to laws that allow them to do so.

    1. Oh the stories we heard were horrific… I think Hermes is the only atelier left that still does everything in house from start to finish… but as Kelly said, a story for another time… xo Tina

  2. I would also like to hear the truth about where the products are actually made. Please do an article on this topic. I would love to see a list of the designers and their practices. I spend a great deal of money in the fashion industry every year and this would certainly make a difference to me on which designer I am giving my money to.
