Sergio Rossi Spring 2013 Collection: Dirty Pop

Sergio Rossi's Spring/Summer 2013 Shoe Collection shown in Milan

When it comes down to it, Milan Fashion Week is all about skins. Italians know their leather…and python and patent and so on, so it’s only natural shoes and bags reign supreme. Sergio Rossi seems to really understand this truth. I love the fact that their Spring 2013 collection is all about bowing down to the maximalist. Minimalism is so last year’s recession.
With bags, I like to keep things quiet, but for shoes, bring on the noise! Shoes have a natural shelf life (they wear out), so it only makes sense to express your inner diva with seasonal shoes that speak volumes. These strappy sandals do anything but whisper; far from it, they scream for the spotlight. In a sensational, clever way. The silhouettes might remain classic, but the details are all-out wild: nuclear colors (particularly that metallic acid-green heel), unexpected embellishments (metal mesh, crystals posing as studs, stripes of stripes and snippets of python, and then there’s that fringe), and razor-sharp geometry: it all adds up to a collection that electrifies. Sergio Rossi does it again, and now I can’t wait for Spring!
