Spring 2013 NYFW Beauty Recap Part IV

Naeem Khan: Nars’ James Boehmer created the look for the show and it focused on matte skin and a glossy lip. Boehmer said that Khan’s “inspiration was Wallis Simpson, so to make the look more updated, we focused on a glossy, very vinyl-textured lip to contrast the matte texture of the skin.” How I wish I could pull of such a lip! Jungle Red Lip Liner Pencil, Damned Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, Never Say Never Velvet Matte Lip Pencil, and Place Vendôme Larger Than Life Lip Gloss were the products used to achieve that bold mouth.

Rodarte: Talk about barely there makeup. The look at Rodarte was supposed to reflect “modern medieval,” which translated into a focus on porcelain skin. Key products used were: NARSskin Optimal Brightening Concentrate, NARSskin Total Replenishing Eye Cream, Sheer Glow Foundation, Sex Appeal Blush, and Radiant Creamy Concealer (new for Spring 2013).

The Row: Loving this twisted up-do created by Odile Gilbert. To get the look Gilbert prepped damp hair with Kerastase Ciment Thermique and Mousse Volumactive. She then did a rough dry hair, wrapping strands around her fingers. Then, she divided hair into two sections behind each ear and twisted each section in a backwards direction and then began twisting and pinning them together. Then, she tied the twists with an elastic, tucking the ends underneath the style and pinning them into place. Finally she fluffed up the texture at the top of the head with her fingers and lightly spray with Double Force Hairspray for hold. Get all products here.

Donna Karan: I am dying for that red rimmed eye! It’s the most fantastic “creepy” eye look I have ever seen. MAC Face and Body Foundation was use to give skin a matte look and lashes were painted hot fuchsia with MAC Chromacake. Brows were bleached to keep the focus on the eyes, which were lined with a magenta MAC lip pencil. Get all the products used here.
