2012 Winter Essie and LCN Collections

Winter 2012 has a little something for everyone when it comes to nail polish. Case and point check-out essie and LCN‘s offerings. LCN’s collection is called Burlesque ($30 for all four shades or $7.50 each), and is focused on jewel tones – emerald, ruby, sapphire, and amethyst. The shades are bright, highly pigmented, and have a little bit of shimmer making them perfect for the cooler holiday season. LCN’s polishes last chip-free on my nails for a long time whereas essie tends to chip after a day or two (I’ve heard people say that essie lasts forever on their nails so it all depends on your nail chemistry I guess). That said essie’s shades tend to be killer so I end up wearing them pretty often. I got a manicure the other day with Leading Lady, a glittering red from their new collection (six shades, $8 each)…and love it! 7 times out of 10 my polish is an opaque sparkly red so it wasn’t that much of a stretch, but sparkly tips are so festive and uplifting that I never tire of them; plus they go with pretty much anything I wear. The red and orange in the collection are also super versatile, while the other three are a bit harder to pull off if you’re pale like me, but I gave the turquoise a whirl and I’m a fan. The biggest surprise…that sparkly gold/silver. I was going to use it as a top coat, but woah! It’s super opaque and high impact glitter. LOVE IT!
