Dries Van Noten by Frederic Malle

Dries Van Noten and Frederic Malle have partnered up to launch the designer’s first scent ($185-$265), which is the first of a series of scents Malle is doing based on “extraordinary individuals.” The pairing couldn’t be more perfect. The two brands are so nsync aesthtically in fact that the first store outside of Paris to sell Malle’s fragrances, was Dries Van Noten!

The fragrance is for men, but I could see a woman wearing it. It reminds me a lot of Tom Ford Fragrance Tobacco Vanille. It’s not a scent that I would personally wear on a regular basis, but there’s something comforting and warm about it (think the smell of your grandfather’s jacket…), while also being wholly unique. Even though it does remind me of a TF scent, it’s not a scent you’ll feel like you smelled 10,000,000 times before (which incidentally is why I’m such a huge fan of TF’s fragrances). Among the main notes in the scent are sandalwood, vanilla, patchouli, saffron, and jasmine, but it’s a complex fragrance so expect it to change as it lays on your skin with various notes becoming more prominent.
