Celeb Crop Top Trend: Make The Cut

Celeb_Crop_top_Styles

The allusive crop top sparks fear in the hearts of some women, while others sport this look year-round wearing cropped sweaters and blouses with boots and winter coats. The crop top can be your best friend if worn smartly paired with the right cut counter-piece and worn with the right shoes, or your worst enemy if worn sloppily, which can make you look like a disheveled freshman who is taking the walk of shame. The trick to these sneak peek shirts is to pair the silhouette of the crop to the silhouette of the bottom. For example, if you’re wearing a tight, fitted crop top, pair it with a tight, fitted pencil skirt or fitted pants for a neat, clean look. In contrast, if you’re wearing a looser crop, pair it with slightly relaxed jeans for a more casual look or a pair of slightly billowy shorts. Pairing a tight crop with big bottoms can make one look super-pear like. The opposite goes for a loose top and tight bottom; you lose your shape within the clothes, the crop wears you, instead of the other way around. Celebs have been sporting this look all summer. Olivia Wilde wore a A.L.C crop and skirt combo from their Resort 2014 collection with Jerome Rousseau Zell platforms on the red carpet of the ESPY awards and looked fun yet fabulous. Ashley Tisdale sported a fitted for love & lemons crop top with a high wasted skirt and a pair of Christian Louboutin Monocronana patent sandals. Our lady B strutted in a striped Topshop ensemble (sold out – buy in black here and here) and looked fierce as always pairing it with a hat and Karen Walker shades while Diane Kruger looked casual-chic in a Chloe arrow tank paired with some Current/Elliot jeans and Chanel Diamond Beach sandals. Try out their styles for these last few weeks of sunshine and summer!
