We’ve all heard “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is” about 10,000 times, and 99.9% of the time it’s true buuuuut…with Navitas Naturals it isn’t! The brand specializes in organic superfoods, and they make two things I love – dried fruits and protein-packed snacks. They taste yummy and they’re actually HEALTHY! I usually try hard to stay away from dried fruits (damn mangos at Trader Joe’s get me almost every time though…), because unlike what many people think, dried fruits are pretty much the equivalent of candy in their sugar and caloric content and compared to fresh fruit they’re not high in nutritional value. Not so with the dried fruits made by Navitas! They have dried fruits you’re not likely to have tried before including goji, dragon fruit (so, so, so good and not flavorless like when you eat the fruit fresh), goldenberry…they’re not particularly low in calories so you will want to try to eat them in moderation, but even if you “overdose” they’re so packed with omega 3’s, protein, iron, fiber, vitamins, and minerals that you really are still doing your body good. All calories are not created equal, remember.
Navitas also makes these delicious protein snacks that are sweet but not too sweet. Basically it’s not going to soothe your sugar craving if you’re wanting a piece of creamy milk chocolate, but if you’re looking for a somewhat sweet, dense, and healthy midday snack, they’re perfect. I’d opt for these in a second over a food bar (especially since most food bars are full of fat, calories, and sugar). The ingredients are super pure – there will be nothing in the list that you don’t recognize, and they’re a great source of antioxidants, protein, and fiber, while being low in fat and sodium. They’re also filling because of their dense consistency.
