High-Waisted Jeans: How-To Guide

Celebrity_high_waisted_jeans

High-waisted jeans or “mom jeans” can be an intimidating trend to try (remember the horrible backlash Jessica Simpson endured after wearing a pair during a 2009 performance?.. yikes). Nonetheless, the trend is still alive and well, and can be pulled off with the right tips. If you’re shorter, this trend can be great for elongating legs, and if you’re feeling unsure about what to pair with them, follow Nicole Richie’s lead and start simple. Nicole wore her Citizens of Humanity high-rise jeans with a simple white button down and pumps. This allows you to give the style a try without being too in-your-face with the high waist. If you want a more relaxed-chic look, the wider leg trouser is huge for spring 2014, as demonstrated by Victoria Beckham in some high-rise, wide-leg jeans by Chloé. This is a great way to wear the trend during the day as you can more easily dress it down with a t-shirt and be comfortable. Selena Gomez pulled off the complete 80’s look by pairing her BDG high-rise seamed jeans with a crop top and flats. This may be the trickiest way to wear the high-rise, but no guts, no glory. If you have shorter legs, I’d always pair the jeans with pumps for an extra boost so you don’t end up looking too cut-off. Try the style out for yourself and rise to the occasion!

  1. I love the trend. I hope it’s still around after I have my baby, I think it’s a great way to disguise the post pregnancy belly along with the right shape wear.
